Our hospital recently had a physician whose always seemed to be on the edge of good practice, or perhaps just over the edge. She/he compounded that by being evasive and sometimes non-responsive to the Medical Staff mailings, committees, etc. Ultimately, s/he left the staff--not sure if s/he resigned or was dismissed. On top of the peer review issue, there was an ethnicity issue.

As physicians, we all know very well how serious matters of the Medical Staff can be when they involve a fellow physician's livelihood. Allegations of poor care and other things are hurtful and difficult, even if ultimately true. Serving on those type committees is difficult when the poop hits the fan, and is thankless.

Why didn't you just tell this hermaphrodite doc to go ____him/herself! ;+)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
