Patients are using debit and credit cards more than everFrom: GIN11153@aol.comSun Oct 29 03:12:19 2006
Curious to know if you do or do not accept credit cards and if you do, is there an extra fee for the patient added for using the cards: Medical Economics article 10/20/06: Your future's in the cardsâcredit and debit cards. The vast majority of physician practices already accept plastic, but the volume of swipes could jump significantly, given the push for consumer-driven healthcare. The number of individuals with health savings accounts, or HSAsâ typically linked with a high-deductible insurance planâis projected to rise from 3.2 million in 2005 to almost 30 million by 2010, according to the Department of the Treasury. And by then, it's predicted that 95 percent of HSAs will come with some kind of payment card, according to a research and consulting subsidiary of MasterCard International called TowerGroup. _http://www.memag.com/memag/content/printContentPopup.jsp?id=379592_ (http://www.memag.com/memag/content/printContentPopup.jsp?id=379592) Gail Neuman RNC CPHW SNP Director of Perinatal Services Montclair Hospital Medical Center student nurse practitioner and student midwife Perinatal education Perinatal Nurse Associates Santa Ana, CA

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
