Question about placenta accreta

We had a patient today who had a scheduled repeat c/section (had 3 previous sections) for a long known complete previa. Her due date was I think 5 days away.

When it was time to get the placenta out, doc noticed the accreta, she hemorrhaged needing 2 units of packed cells and an emergency hysterectomy. Doing fine in the ICU overnight.

Am curious to know if the accreta could have been noticed previously on several ultrasounds she had over the last 3 months.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
