Re: thumb tacksFrom: ainsron (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Fri Oct 20 08:53:10 2006
To my knowledge, there is no medical source. You simply have to use regular thumb tacks and sterilize them. Using a regular autoclave would cause them to oxidize (rust), so gas sterilization would be better. If I were ever in an emergency where I needed one and it wasn't available, I would have the nursing staff get a regular thumb tack and throw it in some alcohol for a few minutes, since bleeding is more of a concern than infection in that circumstance. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
