Have seen this several occasions with my own clients, and once during while doing my clinical to get my license with a very intelligent OB who thank goodness taught me that if someone is not in labor, they need to go home if everything is normal. The clients I have had. for example, one was 8cm and remained that way for 8 days then had a five hour labor and similarly with the others. Why was the midwife checking her at this time anyhow and what possible dx could you claim for insurance purposes for keeping her in the hospital all this time? This woman would not be considered preterm here in So CA area in my experience. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
