I believe it was Aristotle who held that the Male Fetus became ensouled at 90 days and the female fetus at 150 days. This was also the stance of the Roman Catholic Church up until around 1850. So they felt that it was a much lesser sin to abort a pregnancy prior to ensoulment. Also interesting and indicative of the Gender bias both currently and previously predominant there. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
