Re: Gyn: AmenorrheaFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Wed Sep 27 23:43:14 2006
TSH and Prolactin OK a while back, I think. I'll review. I had tried to withdraw her last year (she doesn't come in much or worry about this too much), and she didn't respond--thus the ultrasound. I would have to assume that she has been Estrogen "primed" with a 16 mm endometrium, and am awaiting another progestin challenge. That said, if she doesn't bleed, can't we assume she is NOT tending towards hyperplasia? Furthermore, I wouldn't think that I would need to give her estrogen, Joe, to prevent hyperplasia--as estrogen is the culprit. . .and if she doesn't withdraw, then that is a biologic test for estrogen, I believe. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
