Re: Vaginal dryness in a 17-year-oldFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Wed Jul 26 22:08:44 2006
Although this could be the culprit, I find that a big part of the teen vaginal dryness is that the young males become aroused and ready for intromission so fast that the young woman who is not familiar with the full sexual response ends up unaroused (from the vaginal point of view) and he enters when she is not ready. I do a lot of counseling young women on this issue and ask about the foreplay and what happens with her vagina and secretions. Invariably I see a light go off when we have this discussion. The guys of that age just are often erect with nearly no stimulation and don't want to do what is needed for her to be truly ready for intromission. Then it doesn't feel good - and she takes longer and longer until her body is saying "no way" because it never felt really good. Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
