Re: Two sad cases -->larger pictureFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Mon Jun 12 08:59:03 2006
Path: Invasive Ductal Carcinoma All her docs - including her psychiatrist are on the issue of throwing the baby out with the bath water: get the lumpectomy and sentinel node done and go from there. I had a 20 minute chat with her. Her big problem is a "friend" who told her how horrible the sentinel node bioosy procedure was and she is "done" with having medical folks tell her "there will be no pain" and then being in pain. We had the big talk about the fact that with the diagnosis the CANCER needs to be removed and we talked about short term goals and long term goals. I am going to see if patients I have who have had the Sentinel Node procedures done at our hospital and at the tertiary care hospital can tell us about the procedures and whether they are willing to talk with another woman who needs to go through it for peer support. I will then call her and see if she would be willing to talk to others who have had it done. And we will work from there. Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
