Re: Effectiveness and safety of HPV VaccineFrom: Kim E. Goldman (goldman@calweb.com)Sun Jun 11 00:38:44 2006
So how long has the vaccine been studied? Sounds like a maximum of 4 years. And it is protective against vaginal and vulvar cancer for only two years? Hmmm I'd like to know more. Not a very long track record for something that is going to be given to young girls. As you stated in your previous post, the concern here is not that giving such a vaccine would be considered permissive but rather whether long term it is safe and effective. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
