Re: HPV VaccineFrom: LCLEMOS@aol.comFri Jun 9 06:16:45 2006
In a message dated 6/9/2006 7:11:43 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, islesannie@yahoo.com writes: I assume the testing for the HPV vaccine was done on only women (as the endpoint was reducing cervical cancer) .... but why would we not vaccinate ALL young people (both amle and female) in the age brackets suggested? Like Hep B vaccinations are give to both males and females -- since the HPV is an STD - both sexes should be vaccinated. I realize the issue of male disease (or the lack of obvious disease) probably makes it difficult to test in men - the epidemiology would suggest that both should be vaccinated. What do others think? Joanne I just read something about the plan to vaccine young men as well, I'll see if I can find it, the discussion is out there.... PS .I'm hoping it is available SOON for my own particular 'pain in the ass', although his birth was relatively easy, it was scary enough with late decels, oxygen, pushing on my side (WHICH I HATED) and a signed CS consent...15 minutes of pushing from 8 centimeters to delivery was a huge OUCH..... ;-) Laurie in ME

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
