Here in the UK that would be considered illegal or is it unlawful? No adult who is considered competent would be allowed to be coerced in this way. It's disgusting and it's NOT informed consent if she did consent after being coerced in this way. Our OBs do suggest epidurals but only 'in case...' and they certainly don't ask family to persuade the woman to have one. But that's for high(er) risk labours, they never see anything normal.
