The hospital consent is frequently delegated to someone who is part of the team. It should not be delegated to someone who is not part of the team. At that point, meaningful discussions have already taken place. The hospital form is the last of a series of several encounters about consent; not to diminish its importance, but certainly at that point, someone who is part of the team could get the form signed. ********* So why does JCAHO issue a "fatwa" saying the hospital consent does not consitiute informed consent when it complies with all the tenets of informed

consent.?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
