Re: Pain management/ shoulder dystociaFrom: Anna Meenan, MD (annam@uic.edu)Thu Mar 30 09:29:08 2006
I used to try to do the same, and even had it in my standing admission orders that my patients were not to be offered pain meds, that they would ask if they wanted something (and of course, I always explained to them during the "When-to-go-to-the-hospital-and-what-happens-when-you-get-there" talk at 36 weeks). Of course, the nurses routinely ignored that and did the whole "take the meds now before it's too late" thing. It was one of the things I gave up fighting about in order to preserve my mental health.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
