Re: where the continued pregnancy endangers the life of the woman concerned

Oh for lord's sake Gail...why would there be conditions listed in textbooks, to include midwifery textbooks, listing hemmorhage, sepsis, etc. I should step back and take a Xanax before firing this off, but I won't ...in my case, a tenth of a second scan of my age restricted memory cell bank brings up death from sepsis, pp hemorrhage, intrapartum hemorrhage, pulmonary embolus, thryotoxicsosis in a previously euthyroid woman whose initial symptoms were masked by the usual physiologic changes of normal pregnany (that all pregnant patients experience), sudden onset PIH wiht seizure, and respiratory arrest...all these either in my own patients or observed in colleagues patients close at hand....and another oh, by-the-way thought...oh hell, not worth the time, I'm sure.

Okay, let's play a game of number crunching. How many of you have had women under YOUR care (not someone you know but you) that have died when pregnant and what was the cause?

I'l start. None.

Gail

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
