Re: Which forceps do you choose/ ventouseFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Sun Mar 5 12:53:35 2006
Garry, You are so right. I had a new partner (that was over 12 years ago) who was my "second" Ob at a twin delivery who said (after the delivery) that she had never before seen a breech vag delivery. Unfortunately, I did not know that she knew nothing about assisting with the descent of the head until after I had the baby out. An experienced L&D nurse would have been better assistance! I too was taught to do the CS for Breech with the same technique as for breech vaginal - so it was known by your hands and mind what to do. Apparently she was not even taught that -- at C/s for breech she was pretty clumsy and had not been taught that. So we went through teaching her that so at least her C/S breeches would be safer! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
