Oh come on el, I might examine her intimately and watch as she gives birth. How more encroaching is that? In the woman's notes there is a space for her name and address and the question about what does she want her health care providers to call her. They always put their first names. Anyway, that's by the by. Midwifery by it's very nature is intimate therefore we encroach on her space whether or not I call her by her first or last name.
