Re: Breech TrailFrom: jane.wines@telus.netTue Jan 24 09:22:56 2006
Are any of you coming to Vanvcouver in March to discuss this in detail. I know that for some of you its a no go forever - but there are some of you out there who do believe that it could come back into practice - I know you have written off list! One of the topics is setting up a specialist group who will do breech births if Mum wants a vag birth - maybe the fact that it takes a specialist group will reinforce that there maybe some extra risks - informed choice and all that. There is lots of data from Europe that with good selection it can be safe. It is infuriating that one trial that gives practitioners an easy way out gets lept on but now it will be a fight to get it reversed. And surely at some time the legal system in USA has to change and give power back to the Drs - how can the lawyers be allowed to strip a profession of its knowledge and skill base? As a woman who now lives very close to this system I worry about us and generations to come - the fear that young women have and the lack of choice for those who want it. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
