Re: Breech TrailFrom: GA12L@aol.comSun Jan 22 10:36:06 2006
In a message dated 21/01/2006 22:06:10 GMT Standard Time, eramirezt@coqui.net writes: I do not buy the conclusion - clinicians with adequate expertise are lacking -that's an important variable - responsible for the conclusions of the first trial.--- and besides - as Robert says - tell that to the trial lawyers - they will all laugh... at our stupidity... I appreciate your concern, however...If research showed that vaginal breech was safe in the hands of a skilled practitioner but women with breech babies were still being delivered by c/section isn't that also a case to make lawyers uncomfortable? You only need one women with complications after her c/s fo breech to find the research that a vaginal breech birth is not the dangerous birth she'd been made to believe and she'll be one very angry woman. Do you see what I'm getting at here? If you're quick to embrace the results that say breech babies should be delivered by c/section then you should be quick to embrace the research that says in the hands of a skilled practitioner breech vaginal birth is safe. However, I do appreciate that fact that your profession is dictated to by lawyers and that is very sad. Happily, we're not here so maybe vaginal breech will become a reality. BTW, our latest CNST report showed a decrease on the amount of lawsuits instigated against us this year and surprise, surprise it's gynae that have more than obstetrics this year. Gail

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
