Re: TrachelectomyFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Mon Dec 26 20:14:25 2005
The previous physician is retired, I've reviewed his op note, and there simply was no mention of the findings, just a description of the procedure. Absolutely, the red flags are present--she's young and has already had a subtotal hysterectomy/BSO (2 separate surgies), ER frequent flyer, etc. Dan, the laparoscope is to look for adhesions and to allow access to the appendix. The surgeons around here seem to think that there are a few cases of chronic appendicitis as a source of RLQ pain, so if you're in there, take it out. The story will unfold as I see her again in the office. Thanks to all, and Larry, I may email privately about the TLH type approach, although the laparoscopic/vaginal one is one with which I would be more familiar. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
