Re: Not really Kick CountsFrom: doctorjoe@aol.comTue Dec 20 11:42:58 2005
Sorry, I still don't buy it. I work in clinics where people pay CASH for their care. I hear all the stories. 1) They'd rather pay for cigarettes than for anything substantive, like medical insurance. 2) They'd rather save up for breast implants than pay for care they actually need. 3) They CHOOSE to take a little more money per hour in their jobs and forgo the employer-matched payment for insurance. 4) They DO stay home from medical appointments because they didn't feel like going there and waiting, wanted to watch TV, etc. 5) They purposefully DON'T work so they can try to get certified for Social Security disability and then try to work on the sly to make cash and not lose their freebies. 6) They use money from an MVA for a NICE new car but not for their medical care to fix any injuries. And on and on and on and on and on. The US doesn't really have anything to be "ashamed" about. The PEOPLE of the US are, in part, spoiled children of plenty who don't have the will to get out and work like their parents did who made the money in the first place. Sheesh! Routine preventative care is not covered in the ER. Until it is too late. They may be able to afford my sliding scale pap smears but, unless they are really savvy, they have a hard time qualifying for intermediate care. <SNIP> A country that purports to be one of the most advanced in the world (and tries to tell the world how to run their business) ought to be ashamed! Think of those people as your families join around the holiday tree - or whatever is your prefernce - and enjoy expensive gifts and bountiful food. The missions and, in many cases, the bridge underpasses are full of disenfranchised people who not only have no health care they also have no food or shelter. Warm Solstice Greetings! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
