REPostmortem sectionFrom: Andrew Folley (agfolley@hotmail.com)Thu Dec 15 09:35:06 2005
When is the best time to get the baby out when mom has coded? Durign the code itself ie in the ER or in the hospital bed OR after the docs running the code have determined that Mom is not going to make it. My gut feeling is to delvier the baby during the code although I appreciate the technical difficulties of squeezing in between getting the femoral gasses and chest compressions. I question the benefit of a section after the code is called in terms of gettig a healty baby without significant hypoxia and acidosis. Partner had one yesterday in house and baby with ph 6.6 alive but..... andy

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
