Re: Adult VaccinationsFrom: LCLEMOS@aol.comTue Dec 13 03:52:19 2005
In a message dated 12/12/2005 11:25:52 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, ricechaz@gorge.net writes: Came across something that stumped me today. I have a pregnant patient who had no vaccinations as a child. Obviously, after delivery she'll need a postpartum rubella. We had figured we'd go ahead and give her a MMR. The question becomes does she need to have series? And if so, what's the timing? Thanks There is a set of directions for "adults" on the cdc.gov . Specific answer for MMR is listed as 1 or 2 _Prevention Guidelines_ (http://www.phppo.cdc.gov/cdcRecommends/showarticle.asp?a_artid=M0053391&TopNum=50&CallPg=Adv#Table_3) (_http://www.phppo.cdc.gov/cdcRecommends/showarticle.asp?a_artid=M0053391&TopNum=50&CallPg=Adv#Table_3) _ (http://www.phppo.cdc.gov/cdcRecommends/showarticle.asp?a_artid=M0053391&TopNum=50&CallPg=Adv#Table_3) ) which is old, specifies 1 for adults, 2 for children - you can always do titers. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
