Re: Severe bladder instability-- your thoughts??From: Atkinson, Samuel M (ATKINSONS@mail.ecu.edu)Mon Dec 12 08:11:17 2005
Glenn: You know all the answers in this pt but I enjoyed the presentation. Seems our group has not heard of the Parson's test with KCl. This will really light an IC patient up with pain. Need heparin and zylocaine available for bladder instillation if she is too uncomfortable. Hydrodistension , under anesthesia of course, is a quick way to treat the disease symptoms for a while and you can do the cysto at the same time. DMSO (RIMSO 50) is approved for bladder instillation by FDA for IC. This is a simple outpt instillation. First rule for any urogyn is to not do a sling (TVT) on small bladders. Of course you have been doing Tapes as long as I have and know that also. While other anticholinergics might occaisionally work in patients on low doses, oxytrol will not touch someone already on 15 mg Ditropan. Lastly, we give DepoLupron as a diagnostic test for endometriosis so why not Elmiron under the same pretext. ________________________________ From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net on behalf of ENDODOK@aol.com -- ________________________________ Sent: Sat 12/10/2005 12:45 PM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: Severe bladder instability-- your thoughts??

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
