Contemporary OB/Gyn's December Issue had a good review on 17P. According to it, the controversy revolves around several other issues - availability, hassle factor, physician awareness,.., but not whether it works or whether it is safe.

It is available through several compounding pharmacies. When I reviewed my own patient list, to identify patients who might benefit, I found only one out of 90 current patients who I could offer it to. Interestingly, she declined because of concerns about long term effects. She would rather take her chance with PTL again.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
