Re: 'Skin to skin caesareansFrom: Dr Eberhard Lisse (el@lisse.NA)Mon Dec 5 21:58:30 2005
I think a short skin to delivery time is a good skill to have when you are approaching 16 minutes after the decision. I do note that the babies done by elective C/S with general anaesthetics have lower 1 minute Apgars than the ones done by spinal. (We have some patients that are unconvinceable). So, with a spinal, I don't think it's a bad idea to take time, but on the other hand, as they say in the US, "Why Wait?" There is no Apgar 11 in my book (well, actually, if they pee on the assistant :-)-O). What do the malpractice insurers have to say about this? el

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
