It's not listed on the FDA medwatch website as a national shortage. May be a problem with the hospital's distributor. Not a problem here in Northern CA.

Yesterday afternoon, we got a fax from the hospital pharmacy that there is a national pitocin shortage. They are having difficulty getting it and urged us to be judicious in our use of it - whatever that means - until the shortage is over.

Have any of you heard about this??

This is my call weekend and I am not looking forward to having to justify any pitocin I may have to use.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
