As I said before, using immaterial arguments, questionable facts, class warfare, and other tactics, the thread has degenerated into meaninglessness. Of late, a few anecdotal comments and exposition have actually given the underlying evidence for the differences between midwifery and OBstetery and between US and Canadian and British obstetrics generally. Those ideas actually clarify some of the arguments on both sides and demonstrate the apples and oranges of the whole thread. But that doesn't seem to have fallen on fertile ground. We seem to be fixated on the "midwives must be crazy" versus "OBs must be evil" reduction which obviously is not the case generally. The format has degenerated from it original intent as a forum for ob/gyn physicians, to a free for all between MD's, CNMW's and lay midwives. The birthing thread is redundant and to a large extent is an educational vehicle for lay midwives. Let us return to our original format. I am tired of deleting repetitive opinions on a subject that has had enough commentary. JGB

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
