Re: 48 hour stayFrom: LCLEMOS@aol.comTue Nov 29 08:01:46 2005

I don't think it's a difference in resources so much as how they are used. Those postpartum and nursery nurses could be home care nurses making visits. Some Maine hospitals generally offer a return visit to hospital nurses for mom/baby check or a home visit - some smaller hospitals are maintaining those home follow-ups nicely, others have given up due to cost. Maine also has a grant to home health agencies guaranteeing everyone at least one home visit from PCH (Parent-child health) nurses if desired. A visit a day for weeks would be amazing...not sure US moms would welcome that much involvement, my students report difficulty finding families at home at scheduled visits as it is.. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
