early dischargeFrom: igold@cox.netMon Nov 28 11:20:21 2005
When I did homebirths, we left at 2 hours postpartum as long as mom and baby were stable. As a CNM I was trained to and did the newborn exam. Occaisionally I'd have a phone call from a nervous mom, but usually I didn't have any contact until I returned to the home between 48 and 72 hours. At that time I did the metabolic screen, and a check up on mom and baby. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
