Do patient demand elective c-sections fall under the category of 'patient choice?'

If a woman wants major abdominal surgery and then recover with a baby to care for then sure, an elective c/section falls under the category of patient choice. However, as there are more complications from a c/section I am amazed that an OB would do one considering the litigious climate you (y'all) practise in.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
