Re: I have an idea...From: GA12L@aol.comSun Nov 27 04:56:19 2005
In a message dated 27/11/2005 00:46:34 GMT Standard Time, stephen.raymond@dhhs.tas.gov.au writes: But what about the woman who wants a homebirth, but the midwife says no it's too risky? She should get what she wants and no interfering midwife should refuse it even if she knows the outcome is likely to be death of mother and baby. It's very different here. A woman regardless of risk can insist on a homebirth, we midwives as part of our rules and code of professonal conduct have a duty to attend. We CANNOT refuse to care but we have a support network like a supervisor of midwives that will support us in these situations. Incidentally, what situations do you think would definitely result in the death of mother and baby? Gail

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
