In some hospitals the "rules" for allowing sterilization procedures was something like 4 kids or more and 40 years old ... and various other rules. It was really left to each community or hospital to regulate this. I am certain that Britain -- or any other country has laws - or local regulations - that would make others of us say "WHAT?!?!?" as well. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
