Re: 2004 US C/Section RateFrom: GA12L@aol.comThu Nov 17 02:04:44 2005
I would just like to brag a little, God knows us Brits don't have much to crow about! I worked in a birth centre, all midwives and no doctors. Out of just over 400 births just 2 ended up being transferred to hospital for a c/section making our section rate 0.25%! The women were upright and mobile the whole time and no epidurals obviously. As we women are not designed to give birth flat on our backs (thank you Dr Mauriceau for that) I wonder if this is a contributing factor. Talking of Mauriceau, he put women on beds on their backs to give birth in the 1700's there was no research to support this yet 300 years on most women give birth on their backs. Why? Answers on a postcard to... Gail

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
