26ye wf healthy married 3 years. Sever pain with intercourse past two years. Hx of Interstitial cystitis. Pelvic not revealing minimal tenderness. Husband states he feels a ridge or band 1/3 of way in vagina with coitus.

Sounds like vaginismus with pelvic floor myalgia to me. I have tried her on neurontin with no relief. Empiric course of elmiron in light of her IC no relief. Any other thoughts or anecdotal treatments besides vaginal dilators? Some relief with Xanax berfore relations. I was hoping to be able to inject something in the pelvic sidewalls? Steorids? marcaine? Botox seems to be good for everything? andy

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
