How do you guys deal with bad news type results? 55 YO with postmenopausal bleeding has early endometrial Ca on pathology from H-scope/D and C. 35 YO has amnio by me, and has a Trisomy 21 result. For so many things, we simply call the results, i.e. "Your pathology from the D and C was OK--we'll go over it at the post-op visit in 2 week" or "the amnio was fine" Do you: 1. Call the patient with the result? If so, do you or your staff call? 2. Call the patient and ask them to come in? Who makes the call? (i.e. when the nurse calls and says, come in to talk about the results this afternoon, the patient pretty much knows things aren't good). Do any of you ALWAYS have people come in for these types of results irrespective of if "good" or "bad?" Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
