Re: Active management - third stageFrom: Ronald Ainsworth (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Thu Oct 13 00:33:44 2005
I never bolus pitocin IV. 20-40 units per liter, up to 500cc/hr if needed. I do inject the pitocin directly into umbilical veins when the 2nd stage is extended over 20-30 minutes and the placenta is not releasing. Even then I place 20 units of pitocin into 10cc of saline. rmodugno@aol.com wrote: -----Original Message----- From: Efrain Ramirez <eramirezt@coqui.net> To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L <ob-gyn-l@dns.obgyn.net> Sent: Wed, 12 Oct 2005 10:40:09 -0500 Subject: Re: Active management - third stage .AOLPlainTextBody { margin: 0px; font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif; font-size: 12px; color: #000; background-color: #fff; }.AOLPlainTextBody pre { font-size: 9pt;}.AOLInlineAttachment { margin: 10px;}.AOLAttachmentHeader { border-bottom: 2px solid #E9EAEB; background: #F9F9F9;}.AOLAttachmentHeader .Title { font: 11px Tahoma; font-weight: bold; color: #666666; background: #E9EAEB; padding: 3px 0px 1px 10px;}.AOLAttachmentHeader .FieldLabel { font: 11px Tahoma; font-weight: bold; color: #666666; padding: 1px 10px 1px 9px;}.AOLAttachmentHeader .FieldValue { font: 11px Tahoma; color: #333333;} BTW - how many of you give oxytocin in IV bolus.. there is a recentarticle stating that there is no difference in maternal hemodynamics..Ef>At Wed, 12 Oct 2005, Robert J. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
