I agree. Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible in this country to achieve complete and perfect informed consent. The lawyers have made an art out of finding the one small item you forgot to mention in your list of potential disasters, and I have not been impressed that these sorts of patients are any more likely to take responsibility for their own decisions than anyone else. I used to do a lot more of this kind of stuff, but I found myself spending too much time documenting things, and I had the misfortune to encounter a couple of patients in a row who got downright hostile when things didn't go as planned, so I decided that personal responsibility just plain does not exist in this country anymore and gave it up.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
