She needs oestrogen not progesterone. Use a 50 mcg pill for three cycles, then put her on a low progestagen pill. Mirena will probably have the same effect as the Seasonale.

I recently saw a young lady ( 16-year-old) with mild type 1 von Willebrand's disease. She has been treated with oral contraceptive pills. She started with Seasonale but developed breakthrough bleeding. She was switched to a variety of OCP's with continued breakthrough bleeding. The most recent change placed her on 35 microgram estrogen OCP but she is requiring two pills per day to control her bleeding.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
