Re: MRI sedation-follow-upFrom: Richard Chudacoff, MD (rchudacoff@mylinuxisp.com)Mon Aug 29 17:03:36 2005
Well, I gave this patient an oral cocktail that I thought would mimic Fentanyl and Versed: Chloral Hydrate and Oxyfast (Liquid oxycodone). Prior to this the patient could not even tolerate the thought of an IV, or even a speculum exam. 45 minutes later she said that we could stick a spear in her and she wouldn't care. This is our first patient for ExAblate (http://www.sightlinehealth.com <http://www.sightlinehealth.com/> ) (www.insightec.com <http://www.insightec.com/> ) in Houston, with a 13 cm solitary myoma, who obviously is not a great surgical candidate secondary to anxiety. I will be performing the procedure on September 16th. Only the second gynecologist in the country to do it (previously a radiology run procedure.) Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about this technology. If anyone wants to learn the technology, come with your patient and we will teach you how to do it. This needs to be our procedure, not the radiologist's procedure, IMHO. Old message: I have a patient who gets panicky, even with the thought getting an IV or a Pap smear. She states that she has taken Valium and Xanax in the past, but these do not relieve her anxiety. Any suggestions for her? She needs an MRI with gallidium

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
