Thank you for your comments. I was frustrated by the fact that not only did this patient decide to use something without discussing it with any of the CNMs or MD, but also used it for no good reason other than being tired of being pregnant at 38+ weeks.

It was interesting that she never discussed a desire for IOL with any of us, and I wonder if her sister talked her into it. The sister was very defensive about the tablets and the dosage she used, saying she had gotten the recipe from a book "Natural Mothering."

The patient herself did not seem to have any desire for any type of natural experience and asked for an epidural as soon as possible. She also seemed relieved to have a C/S.
