But, was it an L&D nurse, and do any of you work with any L&D nurses that would do that? I have been in OB a long time and can't imagine any nurse working L&D in the past, or now, that would be that ignorant!

In my early days, but AFTER the time of "paperwork for nurses," a nurse actually stood in the doorway of the C-section room to prevent a patient with prolapsed cord (or abruption, I don't recall which) from being wheeled in for a REALLY emergent C-section, because she had to do the nursing admit and assessment papers. One of the residents actually (but gently) lifted her up and moved her aside and we proceeded to remove a still-alive baby by the skin of our teeth.

Today, at our hospital, I would think that security would be called, as well as the local police, and the physician would be charged with assault.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
