The first thing is to know the diference between Right and Left handed instruments and to be able to teach that. Most teaching hospitals do not have left handed instruments, so lefties have to struggle with right handed instruments. Many will buy themselves a set once they finish training. Otherwise everything is just plain ol backward. We currently have a resident who has 3 strikes against her. She is left handed and a blonde and from Poland. Actually she may well be the best resident in her class. It takes a lot of patience to teach the leftie how to use instruments in the OR.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
