Not necessarily, but seriously depressed moms can make screwed-up kids, and as I said, of the hundreds I've seen immediately postpartum, the only two I can remember who ordered their kids to the nursery immediately after birth after one quick look turned out to be seriously depressed. Just an observation. I hope this mom is OK, but if a mom I had just delivered said that, I would probably sit down and talk with her, find out how she's feeling about things, ask her if she needs any help with anything, etc. etc.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
