And are you concerned at all about her interaction with this baby and with her other children? Not all the moms I deliver want the baby on their chest to nurse right away, but in general, they do want to hold the baby and get to know it, after their bottom end is stitched up, cleaned up, and covered up, and we have put the labor bed back together. I would be very concerned about a mom who took one look at the baby and ordered it sent to the nursery. I have only seen that a couple of times, and both moms were having problems with severe depression.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
