The persistent abnormal endometrial echo was the result of changes within the subendometrial myometrium. The thought is that this might represent a reactivation of areas of adenomyosis by the tamoxifen. Other pathologies can produce a similar sonographic appearance: Cystic atrophy with thin bands and Polyps. My personal experience suggests that the most common are polyps, which of course may contain a focus of cancer. Art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit.
