I know perspective also. I trained at Travis AFB and then spent two years at Dover. Very good times in my life. Ronald E. That simple part is missing in MY ranting about the military and our OB coverage. I love what I do. I see my patients everywhere; at the commissary, at the school, in town. Many have become friends of my wife and I over the years. It is truly like a small town where everyone knows you. I mean, don't all OB units have to be able to handle a wide variety of emergencies such as prolapsed cords, abruptions, etc. in which an OB and at least one anesthesiologist are in house 24 hours a day?] Of course there are! Probably over one half of the hospitals in the country providing obstetrical care do not have 24/7 in house ob and anesthesia care. Why do you think there has been such ranting over the inability to continue offering VBAC outside of big hospitals. We do a good job at providing care, but small communities in rural America will never have 24/7 in house care with the ability to do a C/S in <17 minutes. I doubt even the big hospitals can meet that goal except in a small percent of the cases. We may not be "Ivory Towers" but we are proud of what we do. [I'd hate to work somewhere where that was not the case.] Don't knock it until you have a chance to try it sometime, there is a lot to be said about raising one's family in a small town where everyone knows you, not just as their doctor, but as their friend and neighbor. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
