Yesterday, I saw a 36 YO P0 at 30w2d, CNM patient in for a routine visit who had a BP of 150/90 and 3+ protein. The CNM had me see her, and, duh, I admitted her for likely severe pre-eclampsia. In the office, I did a full history, exam and explained the whole drill (labs, steroids, monitoring, etc.) to her and her husband. They were quite nice, intelligent and pleasant, but blown away. After all, they walked in for a routine visit and walked out to go to L and D and likely have a preterm baby. I went by at the end of the day to follow up after the dust had settled, and she asked a final question. "Will you now be my care provider?" I didn't miss a beat when I said, "No, I'll be your Obstetrician." Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
