Robert:

She was not interested at all in a Mirena, and I tried.

I corresponded with Andy Kaunitz, Professor at U. of Florida Jacksonville, who writes a ton on contraception. He referred me to ACOG Practice Bulletin #18 from 2000 in which it states that progestin only contraceptives are probably OK in patients such as this. I bet he was one of the authors/on the panel of that bulletin.

Ain't email great? Thanks to Dr. Kaunitz :).

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
