I was drinking chardonnay last night watching CSI:Miami on TiVo and said to myself, "Gee! What if the human physiological system is a complex system, given to uncertainties and indiosyncratic responses to interventions and medication, and what if a strict application of some protocol or treatment regimen DOESN'T work on some folks, besides the fact that some can't take some drugs because of contraindications like allergy? What does that mean in the realm of modern medicine and the application of protocol-based strategies and reimbursement criteria? Hmmmmm. . . " Then I went back to watching the case about the pilot who was killed by carbon monoxide poisoning by his adulterous lover who was jealous about his purloining her concept of a revolutionary airplane fuel-cell and applying for a patent on it without her knowledge. Then I went to bed. Joe P.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
